For the longest time, I have been obsessed with Senators and House members. One of the first days of the trip, Monday, we visited a number of Senate offices and ultimately met one Senator. It is so cool to me that I have been able to meet one of them. Being in a Senator’s office, speaking with him, and asking questions is an experience and a feeling like no other, at least for me. I’m sure there are people out in DC and around the country who have once felt the way I do, and now they get to see Senators every day. In a few days myself, along with another group member, Hannah, will have the opportunity to meet with our home state Senator, Amy Klobuchar.
If you know me, you know how excited I am for this. She has been someone I have been intrigued with for a long time. I love the work that she does, I love her Minnesota roots, and I love her care and compassion for the issues. Some weeks before this J-term, RPC asked me if there was anyone that I wanted to meet while we were in DC. I told her that the only person I wanted to meet was Amy Klobuchar. After laughing a bit, RPC didn’t promise anything, but she said that we would keep a look out and our options open. Now that this looks like it is actually going to happen, it makes me pretty dang excited.
