What does DC think of its newest resident?

By Isabelle Barrett

Let me start this off by telling you that 93% of DC voters voted for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election. That is a pretty high majority.

Actually, Washington DC has never voted for a Republican presidential candidate. (Second only to my home state of MN, who has voted primarily Democratic since 1932.)

So what is the feeling towards president-elect Trump in the great District of Columbia?

Okay, this is just fine. A demonstration of the First Amendment is perfectly acceptable.

Well…I mean, okay. This is fine, too. Low ratings would send a message.

This is by far the most common phrase I’ve seen around the city.

I guess it isn’t surprising considering 93% voted for Hillary Clinton in an election where the majority were voting against a candidate, rather than for one.

Certainly, the inauguration is going to be anything but uneventful.
