Worth the Wait

5:30 a.m. — Drake students depart from The Washington Center

6:15 a.m. — “Green” ticket holders arrive at their entry gate

7:15 a.m. — Students make it through security checkpoint

7:30 a.m. — Standing room spots secured in front of the Capitol

…the waiting begins…

10:00 a.m. — Musical interlude begins

11:25 a.m. — President Barack Obama enters the inaugural stage

11:30 a.m. — Inauguration officially begins

12:30 a.m. — Inauguration ends

Yes, you read that correctly — we spent six hours on our feet for a ceremony lasting only 60 minutes. Was it worth it? Without question.

We witnessed history. We were in good company. And hey, Beyonce sang the national anthem. I’d call it a day well spent and a momentous end to an enlightening trip.
